What is the story behind the most famous scientist ever?
I don’t think anyone living would not recognize Einstein or the most famous scientific formula ever E=MC2. Few people however would have heard about his life and story and how he came to be reckoned as one of the cleverest and most famous person, not just scientist, around. This book delves into his childhood, growing up in Germany before emigrating to Switzerland to study. It explores his education and work across multiple countries, his paths towards the various Relativity theory he’s synonymous with, his tumultuous marriage and his resistance to the Nazi regime and eventual settlement in America.
Besides his superlative scientific contributions, there are also a lot of interesting stories being told in this book.
- Power of curiosity, tenacity and freedom: These are the tenets of Einstein’s character and what he vouched for as the groundworks that allow him to accomplish so many breakthroughs
- Rocky and intense family dynamics. He married twice, with 2 sons (and one unaccounted for) and 2 sept-daughters. There were complex interplays between his two partners and even with each of the kids that I never had any idea before
- Besides his goundbreaking scientific works, he’s also passionate about social activism, especially against the hated authoritarianism
- He grew up with the anti-Semitic backdrop in Europe and America and also the rise of Nazism in his place of birth. He was even offered the first Presidency of Israel but wisely turned it down
Aloof yet friendly, Cold-hearted yet emotional, this book is a great exploration beneath the makeup of a genius and what makes him such a fascinating character in his time and even until now.
